A really good day

Weather: Perfect walking conditions, dry and warm, but not too sunny.
Miles: Jane - 11.5 Sam - 13.5  25 in  total.
Walking total- 245 miles.

This morning, we negotiated our way out of Cork City without any problems. Visited the "Rocking Madonna" grotto before we started the walk in Ballinspittle.

After the first part of the walk we ended up in Timoleague, a very pleasant little town with brightly coloured houses. The second part of my walk was a bit more difficult in that the road was both very windy and very busy, so I had to keep finding refuge in the brambles (hench my scratches and stings).

Sam decided to do a detour from his planned route since the walk to Inchydoney island looked very nice. It was indeed a very pleasant place, so glad that he went off track. We ended our days walk with an extremely nice walk from Timoleague to Cortmacsherry, an extremely picturesque route.

We made our way to Rosscarberry, where we are staying at the Rosalithir B&B free of charge :). Catherine and Finbar O'Sullivan have made us feel extremely welcome. After a quick shower we went into the lovely lounge for tea and cakes, and chatted to the family.

Catherine had very kindly organised us to go to eat at the Celtic Ross Hotel.

When arrived at the very pleasant restaurant overlooking the lagoon, we were given a complimentary 3 course meal, which was superb particularly the apple and crab starter, and my main of poached chicken stuffed with black and white pudding (a specialty of nearby Clonakilty). On return from the hotel enjoyed sitting on the balcony outside the bedroom overlooking rolling countryside and sea views.

All in all, a very nice day. Sam's ankle is causing some problems, but apart from that we're all set. Diagnosis: possible Achilles tendonitis. Treatment: RICE (although the R may not be possible).
