Heavy legs

day 11 of the walk
miles today 24 -12 each
running total  207 miles - hence the title!
weather -warm, humid and dry (hurray)

Woke to the sound of mooing of the cows in the field. Lovely breakfast at Sunville and we were off. Sam needed to get to the hotel early and we had to meet up with George later so we decided to change today's itinery and not walk on the other side of Cork in order to save time. The miles we would have done there we walked the cliff path at Ballycotton which has won both our hearts. It really is a wonderful place. The walk was beautiful but quite tough going. Numerous birds that neither of us could name.
We were met in the car park by Kathleen and Michael, Moira's parents. Moira's first boss at Goldman Sachs when she first came to the UK was Paul and they have kept in touch.

Kathleen and Michael walked the first mile with us, they did want to do the whole walk but we felt we would not be able to keep up with them so they reluctantly turned around! Thank you both for your generosity, it was lovely to meet you both.

We then completed the main part of the walk today from Kilcredan to Whitegate. I have to say for me it was really hard going and my legs did feel very weary.
Someone forgot to mow the road!!
When I was driving to meet Sam he said he would meet me at a cafe for a coffee. I have obviously passed on my love of nice things -not really a cafe -this was Ballymaloe House, home to the famous cookery school where Davina and Rachel Allen teach (Ireland's equivalents of Delia and Nigella). We had the most delicious soup and wonderful bread and Sam had a raspberry and chocolate tart which was amazing (I had a few morsels).
Our destination, Whitegate, was very picturesque.

Drove then into Cork and checked into The Maldron Hotel. Nightmare parking here. Quick meal in the bar and then set off  to meet George and he has done a great job with two fabulous adverts that we can use when fund raising. Thanks a million George!!
Home to the hotel after spending about 20 minutes getting into a tiny space (the only one left in Cork seemingly) and then hunting somewhere to find a permit since the hotel had run out of them. Still all well in the end and it allows us a bit of  a lie in tomorrow on our rest day.
